Join O! Street, OpenStage Theatre’s very own street team, as we perform for Streetmosphere all summer!
From June through October Streetmosphere will showcase up to five local artist groups per day, performing in multiple locations throughout downtown. Performances will happen every weekend, Fridays through Sundays. These professional acts will be diverse, including musicians, jugglers, magicians, acting troupes, comedians, dancers, storytellers, visual artists, and more.
With the Lincoln Center closed for renovation, Beet Street felt the greatest asset Fort Collins has as a venue is the built environment of downtown. The idea for Streetmosphere was inspired by the creative vibe found on the streets of cultural destinations such as New York, Paris, Santa Fe, and Barcelona. A primary difference, however, is that the performers will be paid by Beet Street rather than accepting tips.
"It's pretty amazing to see how the community has pulled together to make this program happen,” said Beth Flowers, Senior Producer of Beet Street. “The City is permitting and supporting it, local companies are sponsoring it, and local talent is auditioning and performing in it. We’ve got everything from professional talent such as Mark Sloniker and Lonesome Traveler, to established arts organizations such as OpenStage Theatre and Canyon Concert Ballet, to new and emerging talent such as the Laurel Elementary School Violin and Mandolin program."
