ANGIE SIMMONS is a Denver dance artist, educator, choreographer and the Director of Evolving Doors Dance, a contemporary modern company she founded in 2006. In addition to cultivating her love of contemporary dance and working in the field for more than 30 years, Angie has been in love with Musical Theatre since childhood, growing up in a community theatre family. She completed her BS in Secondary Dance Education from Illinois State University and became Program Director of Dance and Musical Theatre Choreographer for Rosemount High School in Minnesota, a school boasting a full 5-production theatre season annually. She earned her MFA in Dance Choreography from the University of Colorado-Boulder while also choreographing for local Boulder private schools with shows such as Grease, Annie, and Oliver!. Angie is currently Resident Choreographer for Miners Alley Playhouse in Golden where her work includes recent productions of Cabaret, Fun Home, and Once, as well as movement coaching for several of their non-musical productions. Her creative work has been granted by the Aurora Arts District, Neodata Endowment Fellowship, Boulder Arts Commission, and the Open Door Foundation. She has worked creatively in New York, Colorado, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Tennessee, Mississippi, Wyoming, and throughout the Midwest. Aside from her performances with Evolving Doors Dance, Angie has also performed professionally with Isis Movement Company and Tribe of Human in New York and 3rd Law Dance/Theatre, Cindy Brandle Dance Company, and Louder Than Words Dance Theatre in Colorado in addition to working with various independent dance artists.
