Meet Kate Austin-Gröen!

Kate has been performing for over three decades and has done many regional theatre productions in Texas, Virginia, Minnesota, California, and several other states. Since moving to Fort Collins in 2010, Kate has performed and directed several productions for OpenStage Theatre and has also performed locally at Bas Bleu Theatre and Midtown Arts Center. She is happy to be making her directing debut at Fort Collins Children’s Theatre with this talented group of performers.
In addition to acting and directing at OpenStage, Kate was the Company Manager for five years, has been an Assistant Director, takes many of the archival and promotional photos, and has even served as a Russian language consultant. Kate’s next endeavor will be playing Nora with OST’s A Doll’s House, Part 2. She will also be directing Treasure Island for OST in the summer of 2023. In addition to her new role as Production Manager for Open Stage Theatre’s etcetera shows, she is their resident Intimacy Director.  Kate is also a Level Two Scottish Gaelic Student with Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, on the Isle of Skye. She enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, David, and two children, Ivan and Marlowe.
"I love love love small, intimate theatre, and assisted in restoring the etcetera shows to OpenStage several years ago. I love the challenge of working without a lot of tech and digging into the text with actors to mine as much truth and detail as possible. I am happy to be a more integral part of the OpenStage team."
